7ct Brazilian Emerald Ring in 14kt Gold with .50ct of Diamonds

A 7-carat Brazilian emerald, emerald cut, set in 14kt yellow gold with a halo of .50 carats of natural diamonds, F–G color, VS1 clarity. The halo is prong-set so light reaches the diamonds from the side, and the center stone sits in a four-prong basket that keeps the gold away from the emerald's corners, where emeralds are most vulnerable.

Emerald is the one major gemstone that is almost always cut as a step cut, which shows the color in broad, calm planes instead of sparkle; a yellow-gold mounting warms the green and reads as classic rather than modern. The diamonds are chosen a step whiter than the mounting needs so the halo stays crisp against the gold.
